Dave Cooper

Coach Cooper, the high jump and pole vault coach, joined the Arizona Cheetah’s coaching staff in 2020. His prior experience includes hurdle and pole vault coaching at the high school varsity level.

In high school Dave was a nine-time track and field conference championship spanning six events. He held multiple school records, earned all-state honors twice, and received collegiate scholarship offers for track and field and football. He went on to set collegiate football team records in speed and agility which he attributes to his background in track and field.

He has been a member of championship teams at the high school, NCAA, intramural, recreation, and professional (non-sports) level. The Arizona Cheetah’s history of success led he and his daughter to becoming members of the Cheetah’s family.

Dave continues to be active in track and field as a USATF Masters’ athlete. He is also active in strength sports where he competes at the national level in powerlifting and strongman. Dave currently holds three World records in powerlifting and has set eleven National records.

The tenets of Dave’s coaching philosophy are to be future-focused by creating a strategic plan for achieving desired outcomes, to consistently increase capabilities (knowledge/skills/experience), and to be a positive example  for others to follow.
